I'm well on my way to redesigning a WordPress site with WebFlow and Relume, but I may have hit a snag. The site combines a blog with e-commerce.
From what I have found, WebFlow ecommerce does not support subcategories of categories, such as, mens/shoes, mens/tshirts. (i.e., category/subcategory). Most of the information I found is several years old, so maybe it's outdated. Category/subcategory seems like a pretty standard requirement for an ecommerce site.
When I searched ecommerce here, I came across Smootify which integrates Shopify with Webflow. It looks it would do what I need. But one of the reasons I want to move off of WordPress is to get away from managing and updating plug-ins which is practically an everyday thing in WordPress.
Does anyone know if Webflow ecommerce now supports category/subcategory?
Love the Bento layouts! I'm working on using layout 525 for my blog page hero section. After a lot of experimentation, I have my first four blog posts (my only four at this point...) to display in the layout. I did this by using 3 instances of the blog collection list. One for the big card on the left, one for the two small cards on the top right, and one for the bigger card on the bottom right. For each collection list, I set limits to show the right number of posts. For example, the big card on the left is set to show 1 and start with 1.
So, that works. Is using multiple collection lists in this way "okay?" Does it slow down site loading or anything like that? (Coming from WordPress and still trying to understand what you should and shouldn't do in Webflow.)
Question on templates in Webflow. I included a blog page and blog post (single post) in my Relume sitemap. It (of course) created blog and blog post wireframes, which were imported into Webflow as pages. There is a blog page and a Blog folder with a Blog Post page inside it.
Webflow automatically created a CMS Collection page called Blog Posts Template when I created the Blog Posts collection. I am coming from WordPress, where you create a Single Post template and (basically) embed the template in a blog post page. With this in mind, I used the elements from the Relume created Blog Post page to create the Blog Posts template. (Copied and pasted the hero and content.)
Using the template as I described works fine. (i.e. when I click on a list item on the Blog page, that post appears.)
My question is whether this is the right way to create a single post page in Webflow? Or should I have used the Blog Post page created by Relume? (Although, I'm not sure how you would tell this page that it is for the current post.)
Hope the above makes sense!
I'm using navbar6. I'd like it to disappear when the user scrolls down and reappear when they scroll up. It's currently set to sticky.
I've watched some tutorials that say to set the position to fixed and have it appear and disappear when a section (added just for the scroll trigger) scrolls into view. This seems sort of clunky. Is there a better way to do it?
I'm looking for some guidance on designing in Figma first. I understand the basics of Figma and can click around enough to make things look okay. But I just spent several hours on a navbar... I could have imported the wireframes into Webflow and styled them in that time. Of course, it wouldn't take long to style a navbar if I had more experience.
I know that Figma is the industry standard for design and prototyping. But I am just starting a web design agency, and I am a one-man show. I wonder if I need to add the extra step of Figma design. Especially considering that Relume-based Figma designs cannot be directly imported into Webflow.
Do clients expect a Figma design?
Am I missing something in the Figma step that clients find valuable?
Should I bite the bullet and learn Figma?
Right now, I think I can show the Relume wireframes to the client for that part of the process.
I sincerely appreciate any guidance you can give me!
I'm curious. What do you use to create privacy, cookie policies, and terms of service? I found Enzuzo and TermsFeed. Finsweet has a component, but it wasn't clear to me whether it generates the policies.
Question on contact modal. I imported contact-modal-1. It was imported as a section including padding-global and padding-section-large. I moved the 'open modal' button to the main navigation and changed it to contact. Do I need to keep all the padding in the section? It's creating a bunch of unnecessary space.
I used Relume to create a home page and import it to Webflow. I added a Webflow section to create a custom hero. After I finished, I noticed that the Relume sections (from the import) are divs with the tag set to section.
Why doesn't Relume (I guess it's actually Finsweet Client-first) use Webflow sections?
