I'm asking because my client's will not know how to do this on their own, and many of them probably didn't even see the email about it. Do I need to reach out to them or will their site be fine for now and I'll update them next time we do edits?
Sara M., you might encounter publishing issues or performance hiccups. The switch is relatively easy if your site domain is recognised from one of webflows’s partners. The update is automatic upon request. Otherwise, you can simply reach out your registrar or domain provider and request the update if you are not confident on updating it yourself.
I did it for my website and I had to manually update the DNS
Publishing issue probably will only matter if we're trying to publish new content, right?
what performance issues would there be?
I think one notable impact is that your site might lose publishing or SSL functionality after the 2025 deadline.
The only notice I received last time is that “publishing performance might be affected” that’s all.
so then I'd assume it's not an issue until you need to publish, no?
Yes
Here’s a summary for you. Benefits:
Faster load times globally through Cloudflare’s CDN
Improved uptime and reliability with automatic rerouting
Enhanced DDoS protection and SSL management
Optimized delivery of static assets (CSS, JS, images)
Impact:
No design or CMS changes required
Slight speed improvements for small sites
Better scalability and protection for larger sites
Risks:
Updating too early can break your live site
Missing the deadline may disrupt publishing or SSL
so it won't just affect publishing, it can potentially affect other things..?
