Figma Plugin Issue: Wireframes Importing as Unlinked Frames

Avatar of Sylvain G.Sylvain G.

Currently having an issue with the Figma plugin not importing wireframes as component instances; they only import as regular unlinked frames. This occurs in both the latest Figma starter and the previous version, and also regardless of which Site Builder project I try. No error pop ups showing in Figma but there are errors in the console.

Hey Sylvain G. I noticed this, too. I believe this changed after the ability to edit sections in site builder. If you edit items in site builder they are I grouped in Figma I believe.

Sylvain G. Yeah that was done intentionally to help support editing in Site Builder as Aurelien mentions. You can read more about it here: https://www.relume.io/resources/faqs/why-are-my-figma-components-detached-upon-import

    Can we reattach them?

sure, I think the ideal workflow is that you would detach them on import regardless of this technical reason - you'd turn it into a "local" component and reuse across your project. There are other issues with modifying the "master component" that would likely cause issues in your file. I do understand how some designers were styling all of the components ahead of import and then you'd have essentially a design being "generated" - its just another way of doing things. This may change in the future but its not on our immediate roadmap.

I can work with it. Just threw me off like something was broken for a second. Thanks!
