Final Showdown: Vote for Our New Feature Name!

@channel The votes are in! The community has spoken on naming our new feature. However, based on your contributions we have a NEW name to add... "Page Group" SO! We have decided to have one FINAL SHOWDOWN 🥊 ding ding ding 👉🏻 Folder VS Page Group 👈🏻 You decide! Here are the principles which are important to us in making this decision:

The name makes sense for the use case - Categorizing pages
It is Webflow/Figma agnostic - Meaning, we want anyone who uses Relume to know what it means regardless of what platform they're familiar with
It is easy to read/say - Eg not "Pathy McPath Face"
Lastly, the name has a meaningful visual that matches what the user is trying to achieve - Eg When you say the word, you have a visual in mind that matches the final outcome you are trying to achieve.

Do we have to make it more complicated? Relume is already far more advanced than anything out there for web development (for most developers).

That's a good question Michael R. Especially since one of our highest values is simplicity. The answer comes down to x2 major reasons currently ~
1.
We've noticed users are frequently grouping pages under a 'blank' empty page in order to categorize page groups. So we wanted to provide a solution for those users that doesn't feel like a workaround.
2.
For export to Webflow we're having to make technical decisions for Lumers around site structure. Our goal is that this improvement will allow us to provide a more seamless export that matches users expectations.
We've tucked away the feature so hopefully, as you mentioned, we don't make the simple experience more complex for those who don't want to utilize it! 🙌🏻 Let's see how we go 🙂

Could we focus more on developing functional code components that would be widely used by our team, rather than adding features that may not be used by many of our team members? Although our company does not require grouping, we do a lot of heavy organizing before we move to Webflow. I have a few specific suggestions for components that I'd like to see: 1. Form integration systems that can work with CMS elements and external mappings for CRM systems like Salesforce, Hubspot, and Monday. Currently, these integrations have to be done manually or by creating multiple forms in different locations. 2. Pop-up systems for email marketing and lead generation. 3. More standard components, such as flush left and flush right, could use some improvement. 4. More Relume animations integrated directly into the wireframe, especially for images. 5. The ability for users to edit the wireframe as an "editor" or "copywriter," rather than just as a designer. 6. Improved AI for reading text descriptions, not just titles. Jasper AI solves this issue easily, but it's not very user-friendly. 7. More keywords and terms built into the backend to improve organic SEO results with better copy. In Webflow its called a folder so i believe would be less confusing calling it same name

You could make a decision based on the usability:
1.
If user will select multiple pages and group them - it could make sense to call it “Group”
2.
If use adds it as a new type of element, and later moves pages under it, I would choose “folder” and add a folder icon to stay alined with webflow.

I appreciate all the conversation about the name. Could seem small, but these kinds of decisions set the precedence for expectations One thing that I would like to see is the ability to change between a Page and Group (Folder/Page Group). Will that be something that we will functionally be able to do?

Caleb P. It should do that. it can translate to a page for content, or a nav heading that groups a subset of pages (which will manifest as a folder on the operating system.

Folder is a metaphor for digital data structures, mapped to a family of artifacts that resembles organized written work in a physical space. Group is an abstract term that creates a conceptual domain of which all artifacts within inherit a mark of semantic relationship that may/or may not share similar functions, interactions, or virtues of its nature. In the interest of not straining the gnat and trying to be modern or accurate to the evolving nature of how data is structured and interacted with, STICK TO THE METAPHOR: “folder” (and let it to be transmutable into another page or custom link) After all it’s a web PAGE. and a page is represented as a FILE on the server. The way it is grouped is with the concept of FOLDERS, because that’s what existed for a long time before computers became “computers”.
