Hey Relume community! 👋 Quick question: Has anyone successfully submitted Relume-based templates to Webflow marketplace? My submission is failing because Webflow flags Relume's Global Style component as "3 instances of unapproved code" (the HTML embeds with CSS variables). Anyone solved this? Or is there a webflow marketplace-safe way to use Relume's styling system? Don't want to manually convert everything to native Webflow classes if there's a better solution.... Thanks! 🙏
For anyone else who might be interested in this, I got a reply from webflow support; "Templates submitted to the Webflow Template Marketplace must be entirely original. That means they can't be based on any cloned or third-party projects, including the Relume Styleguide. Even if customized, it would not meet our submission guidelines for marketplace approval. To successfully pass Webflow Marketplace verification, we recommend starting from a blank Webflow project and manually recreating any styles or class systems you'd like to use (inspired by Relume or Client First is totally fine!). There’s no restriction on what you sell externally, you're just not allowed to market it as an official Webflow Template or use Webflow’s brand to promote it, unless it’s gone through our Marketplace approval process."
Kara H. dang Kara, that’s a real bummer. I really don’t believe that was always the case. I wonder if the potential workaround would be to start a fresh project, copy/paste the style guide in, and then you can switch your Relume library and/or chrome extension preferences to match anything older than 2.1 and then just simply copy/paste in components 1 by 1. This should bypass the need for those additional code embeds that they flagged, and meet their requirements, while still using the speed of Relume. If you did in this way, there’s really no difference to building from scratch technically. Because when you “clone” something - there’s still a marker that Webflow can see and can tell it was cloned - so reading between the lines above, that would be how I would potentially move forward. More info on setting preferences here: https://www.relume.io/resources/docs/updating-existing-projects#change-your-component-library-preferences
oh and I’m guessing your template is finished, so in the same way you could also start from scratch, and simply copy/paste the style guide from that existing project into a new one, and then copy/paste each page one by one as well. Within maybe a couple of hours, you should be in a state to resubmit again and hope for the best. I’d really love an update on this so that I am providing accurate info to other Lumers who have asked for this because I was definitely under the impression that using Relume for Webflow templates was fine but obviously our style guide has expanded quite a lot over the last several months too.
