anyone using claude + webflow MCP to rename classes? Can almost do it in one or two prompts total - ask claude to read the site and list out the classes, create an artifact that lets you choose what the names are, submit, and then it goes off and does it for the entire site.... 馃槷
Always nervous about leaving this job/task to ai, but the artifact is a good idea. I'm fixing an old client鈥檚 website that was handled by 2 not so good devs who couldn't care less about naming conventions and class hygiene. I'll def trying this and let you how it goes
I tried it with the MCP 1.0. There were some errors, but the MCP 2.0 is way better than 1.0 so, although I haven't tried it with 2.0 yet, I'm sure it'll work well.
But then I fear I'd unmoor from Relume
I'm too scared to! Relyme relies on those things! Wouldn't the next component you pasted in be a confused disjointed unstyled mess?
naw, renaming the component classes won鈥檛 effect the next component you paste in. In fact, lets say you used CTA 2, you rename it to final-cta, section_final-cta final-cta_component, etc. then you style it. Now lets say you want to use the same component again CTA 2. Now when you bring it in, its in its original wireframe form again, and you style it differently. If you wanted to have CTA 2 styled the same way you already did (final-cta) then you would just reuse that section/component.
could I also use this changing an existing Webflow site to Client-First/ Relume? Asking the MCP to list out all the components and classes and how to rename/ rebuild pages with the Relume stucture/ Client-first classes?
Margreet W. hmm possibly but it would take awhile. For example I had claude swap out the icon code embeds for my custom icon component across a 20 page site and i believe it said it was like 20 or so icons and because of Webflows rate limit it would take 3 hours. But if you do it page by page and let claude use the webflow bridge app, its faster and doesnt hit rate limits. The biggest risk you run with this is mapping existing classes to client-first. So many variables in my head, it just doesnt even seem worth it to me. If its the content or cms or something like that, that is holding you back from a rebuild I鈥檇 use claude to help with that migration instead. For example, i told claude to create a cms collection for logos for logo3 and grab the logos from an existing site and just gave it the link and 10 mins later it was done. Even add the collection list to the page and wired it up.
