Matt J. we have a functional Shopify store run in on OS 1.0 and we want to migrate the entire store to OS 2.0. We have about 70 odd products. I have already purchased a Shopify theme and want to customize the theme so that our website looks more branded and we can give our customers the same experience they had with our older website. I am currently using Claude Code but I find it difficult for it to design the product pages with consistency. I am wondering if anyone has implemented a Shopify site redesign with a purchased theme and if there is any how to guide for it. I am hoping Claude Code + Relume will make this easier. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I am not a developer and new to this. Thank you!
Mohammed G. I can appreciate the challenge you are facing - been there! Unfortunately, I don't think Relume is the best fit here. The e-commerce components we have were built intentionally for Webflow's E-Commerce offering and it would likely be more trouble than its worth to bolt our components into an existing shopify theme. I would be steering you wrong if I said otherwise. My best advice for this situation: I think Claude Code is a good route, I would also look into Claude Design as a starting point for your customizations, it can pass what it creates over to Claude Code - but Claude Design will give you more finite control over the details. I would dig for some Shopify MCP/Shopify AI - I have personally not been keeping tabs on Shopify in awhile - I try to avoid it (haha) but I have to believe they are doing everything they can to solve for this exact problem - your problem is the most common and oldest shopify hurdle that has existed since the concept of themes was created decades ago. They would be foolish not to try to leverage AI to help with this pain. Don't under estimate what Claude can do - whether its chat, design or code. If you start with chat for initial exploring/planning, you'll use up less tokens with more prompting. Claude Code will be your most expensive tokens, so don't go to code until you have a solid plan and a design. Be curious with it - ask Claude questions - like can it do this, or that - have it confirm things - tell it explicitly to ask you clarifying questions to ensure it understands what you are trying to do. If for some odd reason Shopify has no way for you to use Claude to modify a theme, you could look into Github - I've used Github for years to keep changes to a theme synced and backed up - connecting Shopify to Github is easy - connecting Claude to Github is also easy - so I don't see any reason you couldn't at least get this done through this path. I hope this context helps - again, I'm writing all of this with zero up-to-date context on what Shopify is doing today - it has probably been 3 years since I've looked at Shopify - so take that with a grain of salt - but I know for a fact that our e-comm components would likely not work out for you in this scenario.
Matt J. I appreciate the thorough response. I will be coming back to Relume for future relevant projects for just this piece of courtesy that you showed today. Thank you good sir
