Good Morning/Evening Lumers! I’m from WordPress so I’m not 100% familiar on how Webflow redirect and domain setup works. So here’s the situation: Let’s call the live site as domain “A” So… the client purchased new domain, let’s call it domain “B”. Now he want to replace the live site with domain “B” then redirect all traffic from domain A to domain B. My question is: For those who performed this kind of change, what is your recommended steps when doing such disruptive action on a live webflow website? Your insights would be really helpful! 🙏🏼
Henson M. I would add both domains to Webflow and then you would just swap the default domain from domain A to domain B and it should be pretty seamless. So initially, domain B will be pointing to domain A until you've swapped the default. graphyteoutdoors.com graphytedesign.com graphytedesigns.com As you can see, 3 domains, pointed to the same webflow project. It should be pretty straight forward but I also know how nerve-racking it is to be messing around with a live site - especially if there's a lot of traffic. My advice would be to add domain B to webflow, and make sure that everything is propagated - the best way to know this is using this tool, you can see when the domain is working across the globe. https://dnschecker.org/#A/graphytedesigns.com Once you see green checkmarks where it matters (or across the globe), then change default to domain B and publish and it should be pretty instant. Hope that helps! Pro-tip: whenever doing high-stakes changes like this, make sure you have a "reverse" plan. In this case, you'd simply just set the default back to domain A and publish and everything should be back to how it was - then reset and tag me in and let's dig into it but I don't foresee any issues with what I've said. If you're still feeling uneasy about it - just DM me and let me know when you are going to hit the buttons and we could jump on a huddle or something. You got this! 💪
