Renaming Sections Before Copying to Webflow

At a glance

The community members discuss the importance of renaming sections when copying a site from Relumes to Webflow. One community member suggests not renaming sections until the design is complete, and then using the Finsweet Chrome Extension to rename all classes. Another community member confirms this process, explaining how to use the extension to rename nested component names. The community members agree this is a helpful solution to the issue of having to manually rename deeply nested elements.

Hey Ravi,
I usually do not rename sections until I am done designing the Section. When I am done I use the Finsweet Chrome Extention to rename all classes. Go Check it out: https://finsweet.com/extension

So letโ€™s say:

  • you use the relume site builder
  • then you copy the site into WF
  • there you design them
  • and then you rename them using the finsweet extension to rename?

Exactly, lets say u have"section_component442" with elements inside named "component442_whatever". After designing I will use the chrome extention and switch all "component442" with a more describing name like "testimonial". This would change "component442_whatever" to "testimonial_whatever". YOu would then only need to change section_component442 to section_testimonal by hand. Keep in mind that you need to follow the client first framework to make this work.

Yes! Exactly this is what i was struggling with, these nested names that you to dig deep to change ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Thank you so much!

Is this information well know or how did you figure this out?

Finsweet youtube channel is a gold mine ๐Ÿ˜‚ they have all sort of webflow gadgets. Check out this page: https://finsweet.com/plus/essentials
