Relume webflow gallery components and cms integration

At a glance

The community members discuss the issue of Relume Webflow gallery components not being directly connected to a CMS. They explain that before adding an element to a collection wrapper, it needs to be connected to a CMS collection, which Relume may not be able to do when uploading the component. Additionally, most components are used as static elements on pages, so the benefit of CMS integration may not outweigh the hassle. One community member found a solution using a Finsweet power-up to connect the CMS to the gallery slider component. Others express frustration with the lack of a native Webflow solution for CMS-connected sliders, and suggest the community could petition Webflow to address this limitation.

Hi I was just wondering why Relume Webflow gallery components aren't attached to a CMS? For example, a gallery slider has a certain amount of slides and you have to duplicate the element and replace the image if you want to add more photos. Or am I just missing something? Seems weird to not be able to just upload photos to the CMS and they get populated in the gallery

Thing is, before adding element to a collection wrapper, you need to connect it to a CMS collection. Relume wouldn’t know what collection to connect it to when uploading it to their library, if uploading collection wrapper is even possible. Furthermore, most components are just used as static elements on the live pages, so the benefit would not outweigh the hassle of having to disconnect them.

Correct, thanks for jumping in ! 🙂

Does that help ?

It was good for context but it didn't really help with my problem since I wanted to find a way to connect a CMS to the gallery slider component. I ended up searching and found I could use a Finsweet powerup to achieve this and now it's working as I wanted

Ah yes, I realized that it didn't answer that part of your question. When it comes to sliders, there is no native solution currently for CMS + Slider. Finsweets solution is one of the best that I normally resort to 🙂

I had the same issue and gave up after spending more time trying to get the Relume slider design transferred into the CMS structure. It’s not clear what should be kept in the slider and what should be moved to the CMS component. Moving the style selectors to the CMS doesn’t translate the design as I would have expected. So now I’ve kept everything in the CMS and just copy pasted over for now…I don’t understand why Webflow’s slider doesn’t have the ability to connect to CMS, and I would have hoped to find a Relume slider component built to overcome this limitation.

100% feel you there ! 100%
It's been a known thing in the Webflow community for a while. We'd love to see a native solution there too! Maybe we could put together a community petition or something to encourage the team at Webflow 😊
