Fixing Custom Bottom Bars for Mobile Chrome Compatibility

Super random question: Anyone have custom-built bottom bars that don’t play nicely with mobile Chrome? Bottom-fixed bar floats up on downward scroll when the tabs bar recedes. Anybody solve this before?

Do you mean change other HTML-level stuff by making a single change to the <body> element? Pretty sure if you have your "All H1 Headings" etc. set up in REM, you can make a change to the Body (All Pages) element that will cascade to the others. For example, if you have all H1s set to 3 rem, and all H2s set to 1.5 rem, and you change your Body (All Pages) element from 16px text height to 20, your 3 rem H1 will go from 48 to 60 computed pixels and your h2s will go from 24 to 30 computed pixels.

Hey Quinn B. 👋 If you download any SVG, including ones from Google Fonts/Material Symbols, you can open that SVG in your web browser, right-click and inspect it, and then in the dev tools pane, you can right-click the code snippet from the very top and "Edit as HTML". Then, copy the code snippet—this code snippet is effectively the path that crafts the SVG. Paste that into the HMTL embed in Webflow that holds the icon you want to replace. In other words, replace the old icon SVG code with the new icon's code. Note, you may need to style the new code—for example, a lot of SVG code from Google's Material Icons and Material Symbols library will use pixel units for height and width, or they'll have a fixed hex code for color. You can update these right in the code embed in Webflow to style them how you'd like (e.g., replacing pixels with 100% for height or width, or specifying currentColor for icon color).

I gotcha! I've done the duplicate-and-modify approach before for stuff like that. Especially text treatments. E.g., turning text-size-large into list-text-size-large for ordered lists & such. That might not be best practice either, though 😅

I think the standard convention is to make a duplicate utility class or to use a combo class with something like is-tablet or is-mobile-portrait. Not certain, though. If I recall correctly, the Relume's style guide cloneable has a hide-mobile / hide-desktop combo class. Something like that would probably do the trick.

Absolutely. You can copy and paste every component directly into Webflow. You can even download the Chrome extension and browse / pull in components right from the Webflow UI.
