How to Adjust Height of Uncommon Layout 423 for Square Boxes

Hello Friends! I am loving the Uncommon Layout 423 (3 panels with text overlay on image) but is there a way to make them less tall? Everything I have tried has not worked! Love to have some shorter boxes that are more square. What properties should I change to make this happen?

But there are lots of other pages much futher along. Resetting to 1.5 requires an entirely new site, correct?

Matt J. I am still not sure how to make the timeline look like the default. What settings should the top and bottom be so that it fades properly?
