Curious if people have tried Webstudio. Looks like a direct Webflow clone that fixes some of its onerous problems – tokens instead of classes (add/remove your classes in any order), dedicated unnamed styling, self-host, source your CMS in Notion or AirTable or or). Also:
Open source
Insane pricing (free for 1 project, including custom domain; $20/mo for unlimited sites and…everything?)
I tried it. I wanted my new website to be on Webstudio. I was attracted by the open source and the headless CMS approach. I tried the self hosting approach (cloudflare) and run the builder locally. I faced some challenges when following the doc and after 2 days. I decided to go the safest way and back on Webflow. Michael M., you got further with Webstudio, right?
Yeah, I worry that Webflow will have had more time to deal with all the little corners. Admin screens, client experience, handoff, etc.
Hi Lee F., so I’ve only played with it…haven’t published, but I intend to go forward with it for smaller projects. I did speak to a fellow Webflower who made the switch and mentioned becoming an investor in Webstudio to support it…..he said it works great with pairing with whatever….he used Baserow In term of playing around, the interface feels a little more rough, but I could imagine after one day feeling pretty confortable since it’s very close to Webflow. As you mentioned, they have a different way to organize classes, they call them tokens I think….once you learn that, should be good!
thanks Sofian B. for ping! 🙂
Yeah, I’mma have to find a play project to try it for.
