Why Are Relume Components Designed at 1440px Instead of 1280px?

Random question. I've always operated that you should design to the smallest sized device. So for example, on a desktop, the smallest size is 1280px. But, all the Relume components are designed at 1440px. Is there a reason Their set to that width?
