Understanding CMS Connections vs. Blog Integration for Events

Good morning you awesome people. I have a question about events. When connecting to a CMS, is it the same as connecting a blog? I'm getting confused with the categories and how the filters would work in my head. If anyone is bored enough to create some sort of diagram so i can make sense of it, or direct me to somewhere that would be awesome. Also, great community here guys, well done. Everyone I've spoken to is so cool! Customer service seems to have evaporated with AI so this is a very welcome and appreciated difference.
