Strategies for Effective Client Content Creation in Marketing

Kind of a marketing question. How does copywriting and content fit into your process? Are there any copywriters here? Are your clients providing their own content or are you working with them to generate it? One of the agencies I do white-label design for struggles to get content from its clients, and I'm looking for solutions. Does anyone have advice or a take on this?

Josh C. content is a huge pain point. When I was at an agency the only way we could manage to keep projects moving in a consistent pace was to hire copywriters or to write it ourselves. Its basically the only way - and with the assist of AI - even better.

I create sites for small businesses as of now and most of them don't provide copy so I write it myself. Now I can simply get AI to write sample copy for faster turnaround and change that later according to their needs.

I also write sample copy with AI and get client‘s feedback based on my draft. This keeps the project moving bc otherwise it takes the client to long to write the first copy draft themselves due to lack of ideas

Iuzzolino yeah everyone's situation is different. Biggest issue we had with these types of services is turnaround time and overall timing.

I'm an SEO and content consultant, and clients often fail to send content on time. When this happens, I try to push the project forward by creating the content for them.
Create a content brief for the landing page or article and get the client to sign it off. Like that, the content is well researched, and the client knows what the structure will be like.
Build a tone of voice and branding document aligned with that specific business - make sure AI/ writers have direction.
Use AI to write the content, but spend quite a bit here to make sure it's optimised, humanised, and brand aligned. Also, ensure this is complemented by highlighting the client's uniqueness and expertise.
Get the client to review it.

Aurelien S. Sure, I currently use a process where I give clients a questionnaire early on to gather information about their business. Then we get on a call and I gather more info. Depending on the level of engagement, I'll have a strategy session to build a more comprehensive approach. Then I feed findings into AI, and use it to help me with messaging on the wireframe and site. I typically feed whichever model Im using, Claude lately, that information and use a copywriting framework to guide it on how to write. So, my question is, do they offer a process that would help me refine mine further?

Hey Chris W. they have a very similar process. One noticeable thing is that they offer a 'brand message playbook' as a deliverable to their clients. It will serve as the foundation for their copywriting work and is a great messaging/tone-of-voice resource for the client. This is usually the output from questionnaires, strategy session etc. (similar to your workflow) They have a bunch of templates, AI prompts and examples. But nothing you couldn't come up with yourself. They borrow a lot from the storybrand framework (one of them is a StoryBrand guide I think). Hope this helps.
