Using Claude and the MCP with code embeds in Relume Publish
As a veteran of finding workarounds.....one interesting unlock that comes with the combination of the MCP and the code embed.....if there is a layout that you are really needing in Publish, you could just ask Claude to create it. There are some pretty obvious downsides to this - being detached from the component library, maintaining the code, if you make updates to the site maybe your code doesn't match it etc. But for certain things, it might make sense. I'm not suggesting that you build a whole page in Relume using a code embed..... A couple of quick tips:
- 1.
Tell AI to use the existing site's color and typography tokens so its inheriting the system and not reinventing new tokens.
- 2.
Give AI the published URL so it can read the rendered tokens/css from the site and use those same ones consistently.
- 3.
In my early testing, it looks like you can make AI inherit the tokens directly from the section - so if you wanted to change the section's color scheme and have your custom code follow that, you can. The downside to doing it this way is that what you see in the Relume editor is not what you see when published - but it does work pretty well.
- 4.
The team works really hard to make the native components performant, so I would work lightly with this idea - it's not meant to be an open pipeline to send Claude Code in with a sledgehammer - and trust me, it will.
If we want some more examples or if doing a video would be helpful on some of the ways I would be using the MCP, Figma, Webflow, and Relume Publish - let me know by putting a ๐ฅ on this post and we'll see about making it happen.
