Matt J. Question on timelines. A client has asked if we can implement this Relume timeline cloneable into their existing Webflow project (which uses Client First and already has a bunch of Relume components in it). I鈥檝e inspected the read-only of the relume cloneable and strangely it doesnt appear to be using Client First at all? Is it because the cloneable is 5 years old and Relume possibly wasn鈥檛 using Client First then? I鈥檝e had a look at the timeline sections in the Relume library and there doesnt seem to be the same timeline in there which is weird. Is there something I鈥檓 missing?
Mark D. yeah that is pretty wild actually - so the cloneable was one of the things that kicked off the Relume Library - I think it was even before Client-First existed, but it might have just not been something Relume had adopted yet (not sure). At any rate, not advisable to use that cloneable as a bolt-in, really. It'll likely be more of a headache than its worth.
However, I do see the gap in our current timeline offerings....I think Timeline 13 probably gets you the closest to that one, but you'd have to make two key interactions:
Making the left side fixed (this could be a simple position sticky setting)
Make the right side fade in when the progress arrives - which just means adding that content block to the existing circle interaction.
I"m happy to add this to my list and maybe even make a cloneable if you have a few days to wait? Otherwise, I can try giving you more specific direction to pull this off. But the gist of what I'm suggesting is that like all Relume components, we aim to get you into almost any combination with only 10%-20% left and I think Timeline 13 gets us to that last 20%.
Timeline 3 might also be a place to start since it has the sticky left side
but my assumption is that we want the left "track" in place already, and just reduce the content within it to just be the date - so position sticky on an item on the left shouldn't be too complicated at all - hardest part of the whole edit would be having the right side content faded out on initial load, then fade in on scroll - but again that interaction already exists with the "circles".
Thank you!! 馃檹
