Integrating Webflow with Shopify: Recommendations Needed

Avatar of Andrew H.Andrew H.

Hey Lumers, I am currently running a Webflow e-commerce site, selling original artwork, prints, and apparel. One of the 3rd-party services I use discontinued integration support with Webflow and suggested to use one of the other platforms (Shopify). There are several Webflow Apps out there, but I don't know where to start. Does anyone have any recommendations how to integrate Webflow and Shopify, while using Relume?

Shopyflow is a great option. I've built a seven-figure site using Webflow/Shopify/Shopyflow with Relume components.

Randy G. could you shed some light on why Webflow e-commerce is often viewed negatively, and why/how you work around its limitations? i鈥檝e heard a lot of vague criticism so i鈥檓 surprised to hear you鈥檝e made a success of it

Emily M. I worked around the limitations by not using the built-in Webflow e-commerce. Shopyflow is the API between Webflow's basic front end and CMS and Shopify's backend. Webflow lacks functionalities such as multi-currency support, custom discount systems, and advanced inventory management, to name a few. Some of my dev friends like Devin and Rahul use Liquify Pro, but it can get a little deep. Shopyflow is super stable, and the support is great. I've had several conversations with Aras and Yigit on the Shopyflow Discord server. Solid guys. Shout if you need more detail.

Ahhh I see - that makes sense! I'm not currently working on any e-commerce sites but will keep Shopyflow in my back pocket for when I need it. I have built a site that shows prices for holidays but they're not actually sold directly on the site, so I used Monto for currency conversion, but it doesn't work perfectly with Finsweet's CMS filter...

Emily M. If you want a simple e-commerce solution that doesn't require lots of variants etc, you can now get links straight from Stripe. Just drop the link on the button and it directs to the Stripe cart. There's not much need for the Webflow e-commerce solution anymore.

Randy G. I am going through the Shopyflow docs, I have a couple questions. If you don't mind answering before I sign up. I noticed that it says you don't need a Webflow e-commerce plan, just a CMS plan. What would the structure look like for the following pages, E-commerce Pages: "Products/Categories" template and "Checkout/Order Confirmation" pages? Would you build these as CMS Collection pages, and then for checkout/order confirmation still be built or is that within Shopify?

Andrew H. Shopyflow builds the CMS collections you need in Webflow. And you do NOT need the Webflow e-commerce plan. As a matter of fact, it will cause issues if you do. You only need the Webflow CMS plan. Shopyflow provides templates for the Product page and the Store page, or you can build them yourself using their attributes. The cart is also a template with either a popup or sidebar, or you can build it yourself. Shopify only comes into play at checkout for card processing. Otherwise, you're in Webflow the whole time. Basically, Shopify is the brain, and Webflow is just the frontend so you have more design control. The Shopyflow guys even have Relume components prebuilt with attributes in place. It can get deep, but that affords you TONS of control in Webflow.

Hello, I am planning redesign my current Shopify theme via Webflow and Relume. I founded also Smootify.io, do you have any experiences? What are the differences between this and Shopyflow? 馃檹

Norbert K. Both platforms are run by great people, but Shopyflow is more comprehensive and ready to scale but has a higher price tag. Smootify could be a good choice if you have a smaller store and you like the Smootify approach better. For full transparency, I have never built a complete store with Smootify.
