Updating Buttons in Webflow: Troubleshooting "is-icon" Class

At a glance

The community member is new to Webflow and Relume and is having an issue with a button on their home page. They updated the buttons in the style guide, but when they try to use the "is-icon" class on a button, nothing happens. However, the "is-small" class works fine. The community member suspects that the button with an icon is actually a link box, not a button. A comment from another community member confirms this, explaining that the "button" element cannot have nested elements like an icon, but a link block can have nested content like text, images, and embeds. The other community member suggests this is the issue the original poster is facing.

(I’m fairly new to webflow and relume–any help would be very much appreciated! 🙏)

After updating the buttons in the style guide–when I go to change a button on my home page to be a button with icon by using the class “is-icon” nothing happens. The “is-small” works just fine. I’m wondering if it has something to do with this:

The button with icon (which I coped over from the style guide for reference) appears to be a link box, not a button.

yeah with the "button" element you can't nest things within it (like an icon). But with the link block, you can nest text blocks, images, embeds, etc. So yeah that is definitely your issue there. Hope that helps!

Thank you!!
