Updating an existing website using a new platform

At a glance

I’d like to seek advice.

(1) I created a website with Webflow two years ago.
(2) Now, I want to completely update it using Relume, almost treating it as a new site.
(3) Relume seems to recommend cloning the Style Guide page(version 2.1) to create a new site.
(4) However, I find it challenging to transfer the existing page(domain transfer, site plan….)

My question is, in a situation like this, how do you experts typically approach the update? (1) Do you create an entirely new site? Or (2) do you update the existing site? If updating, how do you apply the Relume 2.1 style guide? Please provide some guidance.

Thank you.

Hi! If you haven't already watched it, then there's a video on this page: https://www.relume.io/learn

In my experience, it depends on the size and complexity of the site:

  • If it's a pretty small and basic site, then you're probably better off rebuilding as it saves hassle with renaming/formatting classes, etc.
  • If it's a bigger site with more complexity, then you'll probably better off adding in Relume, rather than rebuilding - but it can get a little messy.

I don't think there's a right or wrong, just depends on your preference.

Thank you so much Rich. Really helpful! ❤

You're welcome, have a great day!
