Transferring a site to the latest style guide using components

At a glance

The community member had just started building a large site using the previous style guide and was wondering about the easiest way to transfer it to the latest style guide using the components. The comments suggest that if the community member had only built a few sections, it might be worth the effort, but since they had already built around 5 pages, it may not be worth it. The comments also mention that the old style guides are still compatible, so there is no urgent need to upgrade. One community member provided an unofficial process for migrating, which involves copying the page-wrapper div and manually changing the classes and variables.

Hey Lumers,

I had just started building a fairly large site with the previous style guide and was wandering what would be the easiest way to transfer it over to the latest one using the components? Also, if its even worth it.

what does "just started" mean to you? If you had just like the homepage sections in wireframe mode still or just a couple of sections, it might be worth the hassle, otherwise I really don't know that it would.

I am attempting to create a video on this migration process though.

Unofficially, you'd copy in the page-wrapper div from the style guide page into your project, and then manually change these classes and connect these variables to these classes.

Hey , thanks for that, when I say just started I have already built out around 5 pages so i'm feeling like it may not be worth if for a minute. Its not like the old style guides are suddenly going to become redundant.

correct. A lot of effort went into making sure the components were backwards compatible. So I agree, see no reason to upgrade honestly.
