Relume pro figma kit: navigating account settings

At a glance

The community member is new to Relume and downloaded the Relume Pro Figma Kit. They spent time updating the Style Guide to match their brand, but when they tried to move it out of Drafts and make it a library, it opened in a free "External" account instead of their paid Organization account. The community members are unsure if this is by design or if they did something wrong, and they are seeking advice.

The comments suggest that this is not by design and may be a user error. One community member advises the original poster to try dragging the project file to their teams section in Figma, but notes that moving things from drafts is not always easy. Another community member suggests that the original poster may not need to store the kit as a library in their Figma Org account, and instead recommends duplicating the kit for each project and customizing it as needed.

There is no explicitly marked answer in the comments, but the community members provide suggestions and advice to help the original poster resolve the issue.

Hey all. I'm new to Relume, but I downloaded the Relume Pro Figma Kit and spent a bunch of time updating the Style Guide to match my brand and when I went to move it out of Drafts and make it a library I realized that it opened in some kind of free "External" account and not my paid Organization account. Is that by design? Did I do something wrong? Any advice is appreciated.

hmm nope - not by design, and not something that we would really have control over. Are you able to just drag the project file from where it is now, to your teams section in figma? Hard for me to show you without revealing my teams at the moment...but I'd say this might just be user error. Moving things from drafts though, is not as easy as it should be.

Thanks, . It's very strange. I've never encountered this issue before. I'll figure something out.

Are you planning on making multiple sites or projects with this one style guide then?

Probably just one project, but I wanted to store the kit as a library in my Figma Org account, so I can build it there.

yeah that step might not be totally necessary. The general workflow suggestion is to just duplicate the figma kit for each project and just create/organize the pages at the top for your project. This will ensure a smooth process for finding components or using the figma plugin for site builder etc. As a library should work fine though.

But for example, with client projects, I grab the figma kit and duplicate it right away, then rename it to the project and customize it. 1 figma kit to 1 client project.

to me it sounds like some sort of limitation with figma, I can't tell what that would be at the moment - but something to do with their pricing or feature restrictions, I'm not entirely sure?

Yeah, thanks Matt. I appreciate your advice.
