Protecting forms from spam without the "i'm a robot" recaptcha box

At a glance

The community member is looking for a way to protect a form from spam without using the "I'm a robot" reCAPTCHA box, as they feel it ruins the design. They would be open to a reCAPTCHA that appears after the user presses submit, but they are unsure if that is possible. There are no comments providing an answer to the community member's question.

Is there any way to protect a form from spam without adding the "I'm a robot" recaptcha box? I don't like how it ruins the design.
I'd be fine with a recaptcha that shows up after the user presses submit, but I don't know if that's possible?

Thank you.
