Merging New Versions of the Relume Figma Kit

At a glance

The community member is asking how to merge new versions of the Figma kit into an existing Figma design that was started with a previous version of the kit. A community member responds that the best approach is to create a Figma library from the new kit, update the style guide to match the existing project, and then copy in any newly released components. However, this may not be ideal for a product site. For agency/freelancers creating new sites for clients, the recommendation is to duplicate the Figma kit and use that as the new project file. The community member also suggests considering Webflow as an option for adding new components to an existing project, as it has more syncing capabilities.

Hi Lumers!

If you use the Figma kit, how do you go about merging new versions of the Figma kit on a Figma design you started with a previous version of the Relume Figma kit?

Any best practice for this or perhaps there is no fancy way to merge new components with a previous project?

Thanks! πŸ™

As mentioned in our DM - for others who may have the same issue - the best path forward as of right now would be to take the new figma kit and make it a figma library and add it to your existing project. But you'll need to go into the new figma kit and update the style guide to match your existing projects.

Then you'll be able to copy in any newly released components, with the same styles applied to them.

Not the most ideal for say a product site.

For agency/freelancers who are making new sites for clients, my recommendation would be to duplicate the figma kit and turn that duplication into your new project file. I generally don't find that I am needing the newly released components on an existing project in that way.

If I am adding new components to an existing project you could look at just going straight to Webflow too - which does have more syncing capabilities.
