Importing Relume Global Components into Webflow

At a glance

The community member is asking if they need to manually create components in Webflow when importing pages with Relume Global components. The comments indicate that this is currently required, as Webflow does not have the capability to automatically create global components when pasting content. However, the Relume team is working with Webflow to request new APIs that would make this process easier in the future. Another community member mentions a tool called Flowguys' toolkit that may have a way to create global components, but the Relume team notes that there were some technical limitations with Webflow's API at the time that prevented them from implementing this functionality. Overall, there is no definitive answer, but the community members are working to improve the process.

Hey all. When importing pages with Relume Global components into webflow do I have to manually make the Components in webflow? Example. In Relume i have a nav bar in all pages, when I copy them into Webflow they're not linked as a component/global section

Hey Ramon, that is correct.

Sadly we are not able to automatically create global components when pasting into webflow.

We are working with webflow to request new APIs so that we can make this easier in the future πŸ™‚

Hey
The Flowguys' toolkit has somehow implemented a way to create a global component and add it to the page, or if the global component already exists, add the existing global component to the page (or all pages). (This specific functionality is part of their GTM NoScript tool)
Not sure if this is helpful.

Ah that's cool Rowan, thanks for sharing!

From the technical side, there were some limitations with Webflow's API at the time which means some of our components wouldn't be the same if we added them as a global (e.g. navbars would loose their dropdown interactions). However, I can share that we are actively working them on a beta api so we hope to be improving this area in the future πŸ™‚
