Getting started with content variants in Relume

At a glance

The community member is working with a client on a Relume project and is facing challenges when the client wants to change the number of columns in a section, as some sections do not have variant options. The community member is considering using Figma to finalize the column layout or keeping the final content in a separate document and using Relume primarily for wireframing. Another community member responds that they are aware of the lack of customization options and are looking to improve the site builder in the future, suggesting the use of Figma to finalize the column layout.

Ok so I think this is best placed in the getting started channel.

We are on our first Relume with a live client. We have been working with a client to build out her pages. Its been going incredibly well until we get to points where the customer wants to for example change from 4 columns to 5 within an section. I understand that some sections have variants for example this one you can have 3 columns. But some dont have any variants at all. How are poeple working around this?

In danger of answering my own question - I understand this can be done in Figma or at a later stage. But are people utilising this to firm up content or having a separate final content doc and only using this to rough out key sections instead.

Hi Mark, that's a great question.

You are correct that we're lacking variants in some areas. I don't think we have any 5 column variants for instance (max 4 column).

I see how frustrating this can be. We're looking at building more customization features in site builder to fix this in the future, but sadly we don't have anything today. CC

I think you're right - the best bet would be to add the final columns in figma. You could leave a comment (press c) in Site Builder to remind yourself & the client of that intention.

Thanks Sam. Appreciate it. I think we will push the client to keep the final copy in a word doc but utilise Relume in the traditional sense as a true wireframing tool. Its tempting because its so good to do the copy all in relume. but there could be mistakes with people accidentally overwriting copy when its taken a long time to write it.
