Easily replace all icons in buttons without detaching the instance

At a glance

The community member is looking for a way to easily replace all icons in buttons without detaching the instance, such as using the Phosphor Icons library. A community member suggests that one potential workaround is to create a component set with the desired icon set, and then nest that component set within the existing icon component set. However, they note that they have not tried this approach.

Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you have a workaround on changing the icon set to easily replace all icons in the buttons without detaching the instance?

For example if I want to use the Phosphor Icons library. Is it possible to paste the set in the Figma style guide and replace the instance swap?

@Elena Dimova I noticed this pain point as well and no there's no super fast way to do it.

However, one idea that is popping up is, lets say you can grab an icon set and put it on a figma canvas, and they are all identical in size - select them all, and then turn that into a component set.

Now that they are a set, grab an instance of that new component set, and paste that into the existing icon component set. Essentially nesting the two component sets - I wonder if that would work? I have not tried it.
