Duplicated Style Names with "Class Sync" Activated

At a glance

The community member posted about an issue with the "Class Sync" feature in Webflow, where it duplicates the style names (e.g. "button" to "button 1, 2, 3, 4"). The other community members provided suggestions and troubleshooting steps, such as checking the version of the Chrome extension, confirming that Class Sync is enabled, and removing or renaming any existing "button 2", "button 3", etc. classes. The community members also discussed sharing a read-only link to the site in Webflow Designer to further investigate the issue, and one community member offered to organize a call to troubleshoot the problem.

Useful resources

Even with “Class Sync” activated, it duplicates the style name eg. button to button 1,2,3,4….

Hi Neil,

I'm sorry about the class duplication issue.

First, could I double check the version of the chrome extension you are using? You can see this in chrome://extensions/ then clicking Details. The latest version is 38. If you using an older version, please update and then refresh webflow to try again.

Failing that could you please share some additional information with me so that I can get to the bottom of the issue?

 • Which component are you pasting?
 • A read-only / preview link to the site (if possible - this would assist greatly)

Thanks in advance!
Sam

Hi Sam!

I am using the latest version

Also, it seems the duplicates are mostly when there are buttons present on the component

Ah I see. I can't say I've run into the issue myself recently.

Would you be able to let me know any particular component which causes the issue for you?

Hi Neil, thanks for sharing that!

 • Could you please confirm that Class Sync is enabled? There's usually a toast saying "Class Sync was successful" on paste, which I can't see in the video. Class Sync being disabled is a common reason for that.
 • I'm sorry that we had a class duplication bug in the past. If your project has a button 2 class, webflow will prefer to sync button -> the existing button 2 if one exists. So I'd recommend removing or renaming any button 2 button 3 or other classes or the sort.
 • We haven't seen the "custom fonts" warning message in the past but are monitoring it. We do not think it is related to class sync.

Thanks & I hope that helps 🙂

Ah I see. Would you be able to share a read-only link to the site in Webflow Designer?

Hi I'm inspected your project now. I will send you a DM to organize a quick call to see if we can troubleshoot this 💪
