Domain Price Fluctuations: Understanding The Dynamics

At a glance

The community member was interested in buying a domain that had increased in price from $250 to $1200 in the past two weeks. They asked if there is a website to check the price history of a domain and wondered if repeatedly viewing the domain could have caused the price increase.

Other community members suggested that the price increase could be due to the domain being in high demand, or the seller/broker increasing the price based on the user's previous visits to create a sense of urgency. They advised the original poster to wait a couple of weeks to see if the price drops again.

Hey guys,

I have been watching a domain in the past two weeks and today I wanted to buy it however the price went from $250 to $1200.

  1. I wanted to know if there is a website where you can see the price history of a domain
  2. How is this possible that the price went up now? Could it be that I have be looking for it too many times? lol

Does the price still say $1200 after looking at it in incognito mode? Some companies will change the price on the user based on them recently visiting the page to create a sense of urgency.

Just checked, unfortunately yes:(

My suspicion is the same as yours. It might be suddenly in high demand. If it's been viewed multiple times then the domain broker or even the current owner might have jacked the price up. Someone got greedy.

Though its a risk, you could wait a couple weeks and see if the price drops again.

Sorry that's happened! That sucks.

Appreciate the reply! Gotta play the patience game lol
