Building a Website from Scratch Without Coding Using Relume

At a glance

A community member asks if Relume can be used to build websites without coding knowledge. The discussion reveals that Relume is actually a service built on top of Webflow, offering 1000+ pre-made website layouts. While it's possible to use without coding, having UI design experience and web design knowledge is important for good results.

The workflow involves creating a sitemap with Relume, building the design, importing it into Webflow, customizing it there, and then either hosting it through Webflow or exporting the code to host elsewhere. While some community members inquired about WordPress integration, others suggested that Webflow combined with headless CMS solutions like Strapi might be better alternatives.

The key point clarified is that Relume itself is not a standalone website builder, but rather a design tool that works in conjunction with Webflow to streamline the website creation process.

Is it possible to use Relume to build a website from scratch without knowing how to code ?

I think it's quite possible, however to deliver good results you have to be confident and experienced in UI design and understand web-design principles.

ok but how would you go from the design in relume to finished website ?

You can host the finished design in a Webflow hosting plan or export it's code and upload and host it on any server as a static site. 3rd way (which is the most complex) is to export the code or use devlink and combine it with a headless CMS solution

I was hoping there was a direct wordpress plugin / integration so that whatever is built in relume can be exported into wordpress

Could be possible but I'm not sure if it's worth to combine Webflow with Wordpress. Webflow and headless CMS solutions like Strapi produce much better quality and safer products.

“export its code and upload and host it on any server as a static site” -> export the code from relume ? is that feature available on relume ?

However I'm not experienced with headless CMS's maybe someone else will know better

Initially Relume is just a service built top on Webflow. It helps designers, frontend developers to use 1000+ vanilla unformatted website layouts which can cover 90% of the designed sections of a website. But in the end of the day you format the modules, style them, and put together the site in webflow.

You can export the code from Webflow

You’ll need to:

  1. Sitemap with Relume
  2. Build the design with Relume
  3. Import the design into Webflow
  4. Customize design in Webflow
  5. Export code from Webflow to the platform you want
