Anybody have experience building a restaurant website using Webflow? I may have a client that is a restaurant owner. I’m not sure what integrations webflow has for tasks like ordering online, paying, etc. and how easy they are to integrate. Or would I be better off using something like Shopify or another editor for this? Any and all recommendations welcome!
I would suggest using an already existing restaurant / booking management services. Some can be also integrated into webflow as embed.
@Jarret i recommend you stay on shopify or make headless CMS front in webflow and backend shopify.
For seamless integration with online ordering and payments, Shopify is likely most straightforward and reliable platform. It' specifically designed for e-commerce allowing you to easily set up online menus, product pages, ordering systems, and payment gateways.
If you need more flexibility with design and content, WordPress with WooCommerce is a great option, though it may require more setup and ongoing maintenance.
For highly customized design with more complex ordering features, Webflow can be a good choice, but it will necessitate additional third-party integrations and more development effort. You can make headless with shopify.
Ps let talks on Google meet so, i provide you roadmap of building a restaurant website for your client.
@Jarret if its not a big restaurant or large volume of online ordering, there's a chance that their POS system already has online ordering features and you would just link a button to open in a new tab.
I know. I know. Creating a seamless online ordering system is extremely painful and is ripe for disruption honestly. But its just not worth the effort to try to "embed" and deal with issues that will come from that, or to be trying to duplicating their menus or inventory management or any of that. Best to just use whatever POS system they are using already.
I've experienced far worse experiences than having the online ordering open in a new tab though. And in this way, you'd have full control over the rest of the website and how it looks - delivering on 90% of the experience in an exceptional way so that when the user does go to online ordering and its subpar, they are highly motivated to see it through because of the presentation before it - hope that makes sense?
Take a look at other restaurants near you, and I bet you'll start to see the pattern I'm describing.
Good stuff. It would definitely be ideal if the POS system supports online ordering directly and allows for a seamless user experience.
If that’s not an option, how challenging do you think it would be to replicate a Figma design in platforms like Shopify, Wix, or WordPress? I know Webflow offers incredible design flexibility, but based on my research, platforms like Shopify or Wix might have back-end integrations that are more developer-friendly for managing restaurant needs like online ordering.
My current plan is to use Relume components exported into Figma and then recreate the design on whichever platform fits best. Since I don’t have much experience with these platforms, I’m not sure how difficult this would be. Do you have any advice or resources you’d recommend? And if you do recommend a platform apart from Webflow, which one would it be?
Thanks!
Or maybe Wix Studio would be best since Figma has an export feature? So Relume->Figma->Wix Studio
