Best place to buy a domain that integrates with gsuite

At a glance

The post asks for the best place to buy a domain that can easily integrate with GSuite. Community members suggest iwantmyname.com as a good option, noting its simple UI and easy integration with GSuite. There is a discussion around SSL certificates, with community members clarifying that SSL is typically provided by the web hosting provider, not the domain registrar. They recommend using the SSL provided by the hosting service, as it is often included and easier to manage. The community members also discuss secure payment options for a website that will be accepting donations, suggesting services like Stripe and Square. Overall, the community members provide helpful information and recommendations, but there is no explicitly marked answer.

Iwantmyname.com - been using it for years. Super simple UI.

Interesting I never heard of that. Do they include an SSL or do I need to have my client buy that separately?

how's that vs namecheap?

not sure how it compares - but SSL would be with your hosting - so if its Webflow, you are good to go.

oh really? I thought you had to buy it with your domain.

good to know. thank you

naw, its with your web hosting - some domain registrars have add-ons for SSL sure

yes, namecheap has an add on. Does that mean they are also providing a hosting option?

so when you purchase an SSL through a provider, they provide you with some credentials that you would then input into your web host. Its generally easier/better/safer to just roll with the SSL that your host provides (WPEngine for WordPress, and Webflow both provide this free, automatically). In my own personal opinion, if there is a web host that does not provide this for free (likely included in with the price of the host per month) then they are likely just upcharging for SSL because people know that they need it but don't understand it. Basically taking advantage of people. There are however, legit cases to use a custom SSL for enterprise level security for sensitive industries/companies etc. But in most cases, just rolling with the one that comes with a hosting provider is your best option because its one less thing you have to remember to renew each year and manage.

ok great. the website in question is one that donations will be taken on. Regular Webflow SSL is good?

I'm not sure how the donation form will be integrated yet, but the site needs to be secure

Yep, should be fine - like you said, the bigger concern will be the form itself more than the SSL.

The form can have extra security added to it?

well yeah generally anything taking payment will be pointed to a secure payment processor like Stripe etc

Square - drawing a blank on any others really at the moment.

right ok. makes sense. thank you for clarifying and thanks for your help

iwantmyname.com is easy to connect with GSuite?

yeah basically a couple of button clicks
