Adding Components Generates New Classes

At a glance

The community member is experiencing an issue where every time they add a component from a library (a Chrome extension), a new class is created for every block in it (like padding-section-XX). Other community members suggest checking the class sync setting in the extension, as it may have turned off, and cleaning up any duplicate classes. The community members discuss potential conflicts and solutions, but there is no explicitly marked answer.

Hello. Is it normal that everytime I add a component from the library (chrome extension) a new class is created for every block in it (like padding-section-XX).

Hi Yanis, I'm not sure. In padding-section-XX is XX a number or a word like medium?

Could you please share a screenshot of the webflow node tree view?

To avoid conflicts, he renamed 3 classes. Thank you for your time

but I don’t understand which type of conflict it can have. Is not the purpose to share all the same classes??

just confirming that the class sync setting is turned on in the extension?

This setting has recently been turning itself off, so you may also want to keep an eye out for the yellow alert. It looks like you have 38 versions of padding-section-large - which is obviously not good and very unfortunate.

Yes it is activate and still the problem 😞

okay. Yeah unfortunately it will still be a problem until you clean your project of any duplicate classes. As soon as it started creating duplicate classes, I would pause to investigate why. Usually, as odd as it sounds, I check the class sync setting and if its on, I turn it off, refresh, turn it back on, refresh and most of the time it works fine again. We are aware of some other classes duplicating though.

Thanks Matt, I doing a big clean to delete all the duplicate classes and I will restart the sync after that, I’ll let you know how is going.

Ok I still have a problem, I can’t copy and past anything without having a conflict and relume create another classe ilmediatly. On the screen I just copy past my “button-group” block to the right and he create a 31 version of that block ...

you'll have to manually delete all duplicate classes and replace with the root class in order to prevent any further classes from duplicating.
