Hello all, this is a general Webflow question, not Relume specific.
I was wondering why are web agencies/freelancers charging much more for Webflow development than for other frameworks such as WP?
I am not referring for hosting price!
I am talking about the $$$$ subscription prices I see out there or $20K+ fixed rates for what one could argue is a basic website?
I am targeting a niche that is price sensitive and web agencies in that space charge much less, some as low as $2999 for a standard business website.
I am genuinely curious and wanted to know if there is a hidden cost of Webflow development that I have missed.
pricing is relative - relative to the person doing the work and relative to the client. Some clients value details, that extra mile, they understand the complexities of design and development - maybe they've attempted to do it themselves and they value their own time enough to understand the costs.
The person doing it - as you ramp up your knowledge and skillset, you get faster, and you shouldn't be punished for that. What now takes you 10 mins, took you 10 years to master.
There are no "hidden" cost of webflow development in my opinion - however, when you start to venture into things like beyond basic forms, or filtering, or complex database things and start to look at using Finsweet attributes - especially if you've never done them before - the first couple of times implementing finsweet will be a challenge - but again once you've upgraded your skills, its time to pay yourself back for that. Just because it now takes you 20 mins to implement a tremendous amount of value into a website, doesn't mean you should charge $100 for it.
Pricing is hard.
In the site builder if you go to hit the "export" button you'll see "Export as CSV with Pricing" - this is Dan's pricing model and formula for Webflow projects and its easily customizable.
I would also search youtube for Chris Do - he has a lot of content on value-based pricing.
Hope that helps!
Does anyone else have anything to add to this?
Thanks for referring to the "Export as CSV with Pricing"-button ! I didn´t knew we have this and i think it´s super helpful. Would be nice if we could also switch the currency in the settings.
I saw that Payton Smith (the founder of semflow) does polls on how much the avarage designer/agency is charging for a specific project. I think that could be also super helpful/interesting for the relume community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQUOaxuqRD0 12:34
