Webflow Versus Wordpress: Empowering Clients with Customization

At a glance

The community member is exploring the use of Webflow for web development, having previously used WordPress. They are interested in the ability to create reusable components (similar to WordPress blocks) and allow clients to easily add, move, and customize these components on pages. The community member has seen mentions of "component slots" in Webflow, and is curious if this functionality is as simple as in WordPress.

In the comments, another community member suggests that Webflow's new "Build mode" may address the community member's needs, but they have not used it yet.

Hey guys! I have dabbled in Webflow a few times (still a novice) - tending to use a mix of relume blocks plus custom. I have always maintained the sites for the client as opposed to giving them too much editing access. Typically we have used Wordpress in the past for web development but looking to push more towards Webflow - however when we build a custom site in Wordpress we also create bespoke blocks that can be reused across the site (similar to Webflow components) - however in Wordpress the client can add blocks, move them round etc. & it’s super simple - essentially building out their own pages for example (landing pages etc.) is this possible in Webflow? I have seen comments around using component slots but was just curious to see whether it was as simple as creating a component (reusable blocks) and just allowing the client to move/drag them onto existing pages for example.

As far as I know, that is what Webflow is trying to do with the new Build mode they released a few weeks ago. I haven't used it yet
