Setting Up Style Guide And Styling Buttons

At a glance

Hi! I'm setting up my style guide (Client First V2.1) and trying to style my buttons, but I'm getting the 'value is overridden' message. It looks like I have two button classes ('button' and 'Button') and I'm not sure where the 'Button' class came from. SOS πŸ™

Would you mind sending a read-only link?

wow this is wild. button and Button - I can't even imagine how that would have happened because in HTML/CSS they are the same thing. To break free of this crazy town, I renamed Button to Button-test and immediately something snapped and the button inherited some default webflow button styles

from there, you could copy some of the same styles from the button below it and kind of "rebuild" the styles you need for the button at that point

but I wouldn't even know where to begin to debug how that happened

Ok I thought the same thing so good to know I wasn't missing something super simple! Thank you!

naw, matrix glitch there...lucky you!

I had the same issue - but I likened it to the fact I was also trying to 'Relume Over' a template I bought on Webflow marketplace (to try and get my $'s worth of it) -- ran into the same issues.
So I started from scratch with just the New Style Guide (clone), and have done all things except my UI Elements for now until I Import (or start to) from Relume

  • If it happens again to me - I will recreate it while recording on Zoom or Loom - and send that to you, Matt. For good measure.

Hmm yeah, I've seen it block edits like this but I dont believe I have seen two classes that are basically the same but one is capitalized - I'll run it across the engineering team just to make sure its not possible for the webflow app or chrome extension to do something like this.

that would be great - thank you!

For note - if it matters - I usually only use the Opera Browser (which also allows for use of chrome extensions (or opera versions) of them.

Easy to see if you open anything in the google chrome store, in an opera tab - instead of 'add to chrome' it will say 'add to opera'

This is what I have done with the Relume extension -- for further note - I also have not had to use that extension to do any of my work (yet) so it is not yet a variable in any 'tech equation' (related to any 'issues' I may be having (with or without Relume))
