Resolving "Unknown Variables" Issues with the Latest Webflow App Update

At a glance

The community members are experiencing issues with "unknown variables" in the Webflow app. The company has released a new version of the app that they believe resolves the issue. They ask community members to try the new version and provide links to their Relume projects and Webflow read-only links if they are still experiencing the problem. The company explains that the error may occur if variables have been deleted or if v2 components are being imported into an older style guide. They provide a link to a document explaining how to update existing projects.

In the comments, community members express gratitude for the company's responsiveness and ask if the app versions automatically update. The company confirms that the updates happen automatically. Another community member is still experiencing the issue and asks how to copy variables over when copying a style guide to an existing website. The final comment is from a community member who is still having the issue with the "Layout 373" component and wants to adjust the border radius of the "home_feature-3_card-large" containers. They provide links to their Relume project and Webflow read-only link.

Useful resources

@channel for anyone who has had "unknown variables" issues over the last week - firstly want to say that we sincerely apologize for the disruption this had on your workflow. It was the perfect storm between two pieces and posed to be extremely complicated. We're evaluating and improving our internal processes to help prevent this sort of thing in the future.

Good news - we've just released a new version of the webflow app that looks promising to have resolved this issue. Please try it out, let me know how it goes.

If you believe you are still having this issue - please provide a link to your Relume project as well as a webflow read-only link so that we can investigate your use case. We have done testing on this and it appears to us, that its resolved. I just ran a couple more tests with no issues.

P.S. You will still get this error if you've deleted variables or if you are attempting to import v2 components into an older style guide. If you have a v1.5 style guide or older, you won't be able to use the webflow app without getting these errors. You have to copy/paste components directly from relume.io/components or from the chrome extension but ensure that you have your library preferences set to v1.5. Here is a doc on what this all means: https://www.relume.io/resources/docs/updating-existing-projects

Great news !! Thank you for the support reactivity on a major problem like this

Thank you. Does the app versions automatically update in Webflow? Or do we need to do something?

they automatically update - nothing you have to do on your end!

Hi, I'm receiving the error:unknown variables on the webflow website I started working on today. I believe its caused because the variables not being copied over when I copied the style guide in to the existing website. Is there a way of copying the variables over? Thanks in advance. A read-only copy of my site is here https://preview.webflow.com/preview/personcentric?utm_medium=preview_link&utm_source=d[…]c&preview=68ee49965ced5d9c4c786a227150c30f&workflow=preview

Hello,

I'm still having this issue. I am using the "Layout 373" component and I would like to adjust the radius of the borders for the "home_feature-3_card-large" containers. Can you please help me resolve this issue? Many thanks
