Importing Wireframes into Webflow Project: Issues and Troubleshooting

At a glance

Community members are experiencing issues importing wireframes from Relume into their Webflow projects. The main problems include only some pages being imported, no global/Webflow components coming through, and duplicate class issues. The community members have tried various steps like using the Chrome extension and following the Relume style guide, but the issues persist.

The community members share their Relume project URLs with the Relume team, who investigate the issue. They identify a potential "is-text deduplication bug" that may be causing the problems. After several attempts and fixes, the issue is eventually resolved, with one community member reporting success after trying a fresh Webflow project and the original project.

There is no explicitly marked answer, but the community members work together with the Relume team to troubleshoot and resolve the import issues.

I’m having issues importing my wireframes into my Webflow project
Issues:

  1. When I click ‘Add Pages’ Relume Site Builder Import tool it only imports two of the five pages/wireframes from my Relume project
  2. No global/ Webflow Components come in despite having several global components in my Relume project
  3. Hitting the duplicate class issue despite following all of the advice in this article

I have:
Chrome Extension installed ✅
Webflow Relume Site Builder Import ✅
The project started with the cloner, Relume Style Guide, Client-first V2.1 ✅ (I styled everything first, per the instructions in theses walkthroughs)

What might I be doing wrong?

Many thanks 🙏

I'm having the same issue.

  • Only one page copies over in the sitemap
  • Any element with multiple classes (e.g [button] [is-small]) fails to sync so creates duplicate classes
  • No global components come through

apologies for the issues guys - and for the delayed response here.

Can you guys share your Relume project URL and if you are cool with it, I will duplicate these projects into our company account and attempt to import them into Webflow. If I receive the same errors, I will pass this onto engineering.

What might be happening is that a component has this is-text deduplication bug which stops the importing.

yep - I got ‘is-text’ in the error messages for sure

I ended up just kind of brute forcing things this time (manually bringing stuff in one page at a time) - but super helpful to know about this issue 🙏

yeah, unfortunate - apologies for the inconvenience here. I believe its a small set of components that still need to be cleaned up and its on our list to do so.

Word! Would you still like my wireframes for this project for debugging? Happy to send if it is helpful to you all

Yeah I think that would be helpful to make sure that we have those components on our list.

- I'm still having issues with this (on this project as well) - do we have an update on when this might be fixed. It's adding quite a bit of extra work to each new site

and you have all the same checks as Sean does above? If so, do most of the pages import?

Hey Matt, we'd made some changes on top of the Relume style guide. It worked fine before but I figured that may be causing issues. I've started again from fresh clone and all seems to be okay now

okay do you happen to recall what changes you may have made? Even generally

We'd added some additional variables (brand colours, brand font, dimensions). I think somewhere that's caused an issue which means combo classes are breaking

okay, I'll give it a test - thanks!

Thanks Matt. Like I said, your style guide works fine. I can start adding our changes back in and see when it breaks, but nothing you guys have done wrong

well in theory you should be able to import pages into webflow after modifying the style guide - but yeah it might depend on what edits are made that causes the issues too

the cost to fix the issue might not be equal to the win, but it might help us instruct new users what to do or not do when they first start as well.

I had also edited the style guide in Webflow prior to import(?) --> fwiw I was just following this sequence of videos --> https://www.relume.io/resources/series-videos/webflow-style-guide

were you doing anything with variables in those edits or? Do you recall what edits you were making?

colors, typefaces, casing on the typefaces for Headers - I think that is it --> pretty much followed the video exactly, omitting bits that didn’t need to be changed for my design

got it thanks for that

checking on the status of this issue?

thanks for following up. Looking across our channels internally it looks like the CTO and engineers are still investigating fully what is the root cause of the issue. However, one fix we have deployed to help ease the pain a bit is that if the deduplication error happens it wont stop the importing - pages will continue to import - which I think is a lot better overall. Let me know if you agree with that and if you run into any other blocking issues.

Thank you for the update!

I am still having the same exact issues where it stops importing the first page or so and receive these notifications about duplicate classes:

Gosh, and that looks worse than it was...

yeah the one thing I wasn't 100% sure on was whether or not the fix was deployed, so I'll confirm with engineering in a couple hours here.

turns out that fix we had was not yet deployed - needs pre-approval from Webflow as well. I will update you once deployed.

we've deployed yet another fix, and the app was approved - give it a try and let me know. Keep in mind, you may still get the is-text deduplication bug, or similar, but it shouldn't prevent imports from coming in.

thanks for the update. I tried importing and it definitely got farther than before and I did receive those is-text deduplication notifications. But it appears after a bit to just gotten stuck loading trying to importing more and won't go any further after sitting for a few minutes.

I closed the Relume import app in Webflow, restored the Webflow site to a Before Import backup, and tried again, but ran into the same issue where it just gets stuck importing after a bit.

I dont suppose starting a fresh webflow is much of an option for you or? Just trying to think of something that can unblock you quickly.

can you send me your Relume project URL?

Oh gotcha, yeah I can give that a try probably this weekend since I've got stuff going on now for the Holiday.

Yes I'll get you a quick fresh link to the Relume project!

thank you! Enjoy the holiday Caleb - hope we can put this behind us soon.

Hey looking for a status update?

I tried with a fresh project and it worked with no issues, then I tried on the original project and that worked with no issues as well! 🎉

okay good to know Caleb - apologies, that you would have seen my announcement update - I have been under the weather the last few days. Glad you are back to work - happy building!
