Hosting websites, relume.io, and associated costs.

At a glance

The community members discuss hosting websites, the pricing and limitations of using relume.io, and the integration with other platforms like Figma and Webflow. The key points are:

Relume offers a 7-day free trial, during which the user can create a sitemap and wireframes. After the trial, a paid subscription is required to continue using the platform. Using Figma for UI design is recommended, as the free plan may be sufficient for small sites, but larger sites would require a paid plan. For development, Webflow is suggested, where the user can import wireframes from Relume. The community member provides guidance on the workflow and potential cost considerations.

There is no explicitly marked answer in the provided information.

Hey, where do you guys usually host website and for how much? Second question, when I'd pontentially stopped paying for relume.io, does this mean that all prior projects created with relume wouldn't work? Third q, when using relume.io how much does it cost to work with it and platforms like Webflow or Figma are those for free then or is it next upsell?

You can use Relume for free for 7 days.
In that time your goal is to generate the sitemap and wireframes and make edits so your client is happy with them.
During that process you can charge them an initial fee to secure your services for the project.
That will likely more than cover your $38.
Everyone does it differently but if you'd usually invoice 50% of your total budget upfront.

Figma
Once your wireframe is ready for design then you'd import into Figma and do your UI design (fonts, colours, images etc).
You can use the free plan if your site is only a few pages.
If you need more pages you'd need to add paid account, again if you invoice for a % of the project budget then you have $ to cover this.
Part of this process is to import the Relume Figma kit which you need a premium subscription to do. You can actually copy this during your 7 day free trial if you rely on that option.
Once your trial ends and if you don't purchase a subscription, then you still have access to the kit because it is just a file in your Figma account.
AFAIK there isn't any limitation you'd experience in Figma without a paid Relume plan.
However you couldn't export wireframes from Relume without the paid plan.

Webflow
While I'm not 100% clear on the optimal workflow here, it seems like Figma is the best place to design because you can experiment with the UI design more easily than in Webflow, create various design options etc.
Then once the UI design is approved you can build once in Webflow by importing your wireframes from Relume (into the Relume starter file).
The limits of the free plan may be what you need for a small site (2 pages?) but most sites would require a paid plan.
One option is using that initial deposit to cover the cost of the cheapest workspace plan. As you may know your client purchases a site plan and you transfer your site from your workspace to their site.

Don't ask me about syncing Figma to Webflow πŸ˜‚ not sure if there is a consensus on the best way to do this or if you should do this at all.

Something I don't know (someone else will) is if you can have a free workspace and be added to the client's paid site plan. If that is the case you can allow them to pay for more Webflow features (on a paid site plan) while you design their site.

Still figuring a lot of this out myself but hopefully that points you in the right direction.

I actually see a lot of people asking about the roles of R F and W which suggests that this needs to be explained in a clearer way :)

thank you for comprehensive review that genuinely explains a lot, I will do what you advise ;)
