Fixing the "Error: Unknown variable" issue when customizing a website template

At a glance

A community member is experiencing an "Error: Unknown variable" issue while customizing a website template. They tried the option + click method but it didn't work. After some discussion, another community member suggested the issue might be related to the "orange label" and provided a link to a previous discussion on the topic. The original poster was able to resolve the issue by finding the color setting in the main breakpoint and resetting it. Additionally, a community member suggested following the steps in a Relume documentation to streamline future additions to the project.

Useful resources

Hi! How do I fix this "Error: Unknown variable"? I saw some posts about the same thing but option + click didn't work. I'm customizing a website template and just added a few Relume sections so I didn't start with the Relume style guide; I just used the one that came with the template.

Do you option + click on the “color” label right ?

Yes, I'm pressing option + click on the color label, and it doesn't work on any elements that has this error https://www.loom.com/share/684f139ea4b443debffb18d980b7e3af?sid=7a956295-41da-48c9-9b1a-c730a1acbf37

I see. Now what I'm confused about is which class to choose. When I click the other "button" with the laptop icon, it just brings me to the main breakpoint.

Oh I got it! The color was set in the main breakpoint and that's where I got the reset option. All set! Thank you so much

You’re welcome ! 😉

in addition to Viktor's awesome response, you can also streamline this for future additions by following some of the steps found in this doc:
