Error: color frame not found

At a glance

A community member encountered an "Error: Color frame not found" while importing a style guide in Figma from Relume. Other community members reported the same issue. The community members discussed potential causes, such as modifying the Figma kit file or the "variables" frame being missing from the kit. After some troubleshooting, one community member was able to resolve the issue by duplicating the kit again. The community members suggested recording a video to help the Relume team investigate and prevent similar issues in the future.

Hi guys, anyone encountered "Error: Color frame not found" while importing style guide in figma from Relume? Will really appreciate it if you can kindly explain how to sort it out

@Muneeb Durrani I've filed this with the engineering team - thanks for reporting and apologies for the issues here.

@Muneeb Durrani Would you mind sharing your figma file link?

I'm having the same problem

this is usually caused by modifying the figma kit file - specifically anything to do with the color frame - so if you have deleted that, you'll want to create a new duplicate of the relume figma kit and not delete that frame.

I have not modified it at all, I copied it as the first step of the import, and then imported

I don't see a color frame in the Relume Figma Kit (v3.0) (Community)

@Duncan Platt the frame is technically called "variables". I see that its missing from your file but I just opened up a fresh kit and its in there. If it was missing from the kit, we get thousands of people importing daily, my inbox would be absolutely blown up because that frame is required.

So strange. I've duplicated the kit twice, with the same issue, literally without changing anything

@Duncan Platt where are you duplicating the kit from?

From the plugin using the first step

Here's something crazy: I just did another version, and it worked

if you are still able to reproduce this and can record a quick loom.com video - that would be super super helpful. No worries though if you can't easily reproduce it. I would love to prevent any future issues like this and if for some reason we do have some wires crossed, I'd like to get them fixed. I'm glad you were able to finally get it to work though.
