Double dropdown icon in style guide preview

At a glance

The community members are discussing a double dropdown icon issue in the Webflow style guide. One community member notes that the issue is only present in the preview and not in the published version, and attributes it to a "sloppy implementation" by Webflow. Another community member suggests that the issue could be resolved by overriding the global styles. Towards the end, a community member identifies the root cause as the -webkit-appearance property being in the custom code head instead of the global styles, and suggests running this to the Webflow team to investigate.

Hey , any reason why I'm seeing a double dropdown icon here in the style guide? It's this way when I preview the page too.

on publish it should look like this - the thinner arrow is Webflow's native dropdown - a sloppy implementation that doesn't look good - but lets ignore a 10 year old "bug" and build new exciting features like optimize and analyze! ❤ Webflow with my whole heart...I really do.

That was one thing I hadn't checked is if it was like that on publish. Thanks Matt for the clarification.

Too bad optimize and analyze is pretty much priced out of anyone I know who will use it.

and also it doesn't make sense that it doesn't show up in preview because its just styles - its not custom code or anything

Has it always been that way? I swear I just noticed it.

oh actually no - recent update!

like early last month - september component day launch I believe when we launched more editing power in site builder.

or maybe thats when I heard about it happening and it just went out? I suppose I should know exactly but we move pretty quickly around here and try not to put up too much red tape. 😬

Well, I love the alternate form styles you now provide.

But yeah, that make sense. You guys are rocking it. Love the progress. As far the chevron, could it be killed in the global override so users don't flood you with my same questions?

maybe? it feels like another webflow bug though like I said - did you test that already or?

Yup, I confirm it works as you described when published.

Thanks Matt for the help. Appreciate you guys as always

okay actually I figured it out - why preview wasn't accurate - its because of this -webkit-appearance is in the custom code head instead of in global styles. If we did this (screenshot) then the webflow designer would be more accurate. I'll run this to the team to see if there was a reason for it to be in the custom code head versus global styles.
