Correcting the error when copying and pasting components from relume in cf v2.1

At a glance

A community member is experiencing an error when copying and pasting components from Relume after switching to Webflow's Client-First V2.1. The error appears to be related to missing or deleted variables. Community members suggest checking the latest Relume Style Guide, manually selecting created variables, and resetting the variables. However, the issue persists, and the community member is unable to identify or resolve the problem. They have tried various approaches, including starting a new project, but the error continues to occur. The community members are working together to investigate the root cause of the issue and find a solution.

Useful resources

I just switched to CF V2.1 and now I am getting this error whenever I copy & paste any component from Relume.
How can this error be corrected?

For more information, my preference on both Webflow and the Relume website is set to CF V2.1.

Hey keen to sort this out for you. Just to confirm are you using the latest Relume Style guide? If you're using an old one or have deleted variables then this error will occur because we can't create variables on paste

Hey
I am using the newest Finsweet Style Guide.

Based on your answer, the error will appear if I delete variables?
If so, that may be the reason why. I unlinked the initial variables and created my own for the text and background.

all good - you’ll just have to manually select your created variables. First you’ll need to reset it. Alt + click on the blue label to reset.

Can you please do a video on this? I had the same issue and still trying to figure out.

I am now getting this exact same error. I can find no way out of this. I cannot reset the color, I can't identify the issue at all.

I'm using the Relume Style Guide Client-First V2.1 • Last updated Sep 03, 2024. I pasted in one component from Relume as I've done a million times and now I'm getting these Unknown Variable errors. I can't identify/reset the problem, I've wasted two hours trying to figure this out, the only option I see is to trash my entire project and start over.

here's a read-only link: https://preview.webflow.com/preview/prairie-chapel-place?utm_medium=preview_link&utm_s[…]35ebfea58f&pageId=6727d0bcc8320deba0576b51&workflow=preview again, this project has just started. I need to get going on this site and I'm afraid I'll end up in this situation again with no idea how to get out of it.

where did you copy the component from?

this is a completely different error/issue than any of the others above.

can you also publish and send me that URL? So we can inspect what code is actually being rendered. Very confusing scenario here for sure and I want to get to the bottom of what would have caused this.

Hi , thanks for the reply.

I copied the component from Relume: https://www.relume.io/preview?cid=hero-header-sections/section_header34. However, initially I may not have realized anything was wrong and possibly made adjustments, switched pages etc., and then I could no longer "undo".

You can view the published site here: https://prairie-chapel-place.webflow.io/

Much appreciated.

okay yeah, I've been playing around and doing some research while I waited for you replies and this is definitely very puzzling to me. At this point in my investigation I am thinking Webflow screwed this up because of how catastrophic this was to those classes but I'll continue to do more testing and send any info I can to engineering to get their eyes on it as well.

Unfortunately as far as I can tell, regardless of the outcome of this investigation it feels like the only course of action would be starting a new project - which I think you mentioned you've already done, correct?

for what its worth - sorry that your project got blown up like that - I am hoping we'll have a definitive answer on the cause so we can both regain trust in using these components

yeah, in my testing, I duplicated the style guide, made some changes to button colors, added a variable, etc and then pasted in that component, and everything was fine....very strange.

one thing that I would like to ask if possible, anticipating what engineering may need in order to give us any kind of clue has to what happened here - would you mind duplicating this project and I'll send you my email where you can transfer that duplicate project - I suspect that engineering will need full editing access to that project in order to inspect certain elements. No rush on doing this as the team is in Australia and its the middle of the night there now. Totally understand if you dont want to do this or dont have time as well.
