Issues with Relume Style Guide and Element Cloning Explained

I have been using Relume site builder for 2,5 months and there is something I don't understand. When the sitemap and wireframe are done, it will ask you to clone the style guide, which I always do. After customizing the style guide, when I paste the pages into WF, then it doesn't apply the style and instead creates new classes. For example, I always adjust the "padding-section-large" in the style guide to a lower value. But when I then copy and paste a new page it will just create "padding-section-large 2" with the default padding and not the adjusted one. This happens with all elements - is this just how it is or am I missing something? Because if this is the case, I don't get why even bother with the style guide. Can you please help me?
